The Stock Horse of Texas Association held their first clinic here that the NRS Events Center on July 15 and 16, 2017. It was geared towards novice and intermediate division riders. Day 1 featured lessons basic horsemanship, stock horse pleasure, reining maneuvers and strategy, basic rope handling and roping the dummy. That Saturday night they enjoyed a little cookout with a fun dummy roping contest.

It was back to work on Sunday with flag work and live cattle practice. They also went over trail maneuvers, strategy, more dummy roping and bit and tack education.

The students are all working towards bettering themselves and horse to mark a better score and time at the upcoming SHOT events.

Shows offer competitions in the four basic stock horse disciplines: Reining, Working Cow Horse, Stock Horse Pleasure and Stock Horse Trail. There is a division for every skill level, so riders can show with others of similar ability and experience. Divisions include Open, Non Pro, Limited Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, Novice, Youth and Junior horse. Stock Horse of Texas also offers incentives for collegiate teams and members. Many of our shows also offer co-approved AQHA Ranch Riding and AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse classes.
