NRS 2019 Jeans Trade-In Event

At NRS Ranch, one of our missions is to connect people with the products and services that they need. The June Jeans Trade-In Event allowed for this statement to be put into action. Customers were invited to bring in gently used jeans, in order to receive $5/pair in store credit. This allowed for a win-win situation in the ways of closet cleaning and giving back. The offer was not exclusive just to NRS Decatur customers, but also included the Wickenburg, Granbury, and David’s in Weatherford patrons.

The number of jeans that were donated was astounding; there were 5,000 pairs received across all four locations! Yes, you read that correctly–five thousand. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to each customer who helped make this event a success.

One of the recipients of the donated jeans was the 11th Annual Back to School Gear Up Event held at the Decatur Church of Christ in Decatur, TX. This event is focused on providing goods and services for school aged children (K-6th grade) and their families. Families who are in need, come to receive FREE backpacks filled with school supplies, haircuts, clothes, shoes, a hot served BBQ meal and more services along with fun-filled activities.

Several different organizations around Decatur unite together to make this event a huge success. Salvation Army donated a large amount of money to help pay for the backpacks.  Modern Woodsmen donated ear pods for each student. Boyd church of Christ donated money to help buy additional new tennis shoes for each child to have for school.  This year NRS had a chance to be an integral part of the clothing room giveaway.  Each student was invited to find 3 pairs of jeans to start out their school year with along with other clothing items.  Nearly 1,000 pairs of jeans were given away to those in need. The families were very excited and grateful for this additional gift at the event.

Another recipient of 1,000+ pairs of jeans from the NRS Trade-In Event is the Helping Hands clothing closet in Decatur. The mission and purpose of the Helping Hands ministry is to provide for those in need of basic clothing in Wise County, TX.

This ministry is located on the southeast wing of the Decatur Church of Christ offices. They are open to serve on Mondays from 10am to 2pm. Clothing donations can be dropped off during those hours as well. In 2018, the Helping Hands ministry gave away over 23,000 items of clothing to families in need.  Helping Hands ministry were extremely grateful to receive the jeans donation from NRS, as good quality jeans can be hard to come by and tend to go quickly from the clothing room.

The next Texan NRS jean donation event is scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2019. NRS is donating jeans to the local Buyers Associations, which support youth involved in 4-H and FFA by purchasing animals during the Wise Co. Youth Fair. NRS is providing an area outside of the NRS Ranch store for the associations to hold a fund-raising event, selling the jeans for $3 and $5 each. All proceeds will go to the Buyers Associations. Come out to the Ranch from 8AM to 8PM to support these non-profit organizations!

Although Texans are known for their big hearts, NRS Wickenburg accepted the challenge and did not disappoint. Dan Hillenbrand applauded his customer’s for their efforts. The denim that was collected in Arizona was donated to Wickenburg Soroptimist. This charity was able to add to their scholarship fund and give back to the community because of the jean donations.
